Data collection and use

The Balancer app collects and processes only the data required for it to work. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties.

What data is collected

Account data

  • Email address (when you sign up with email or Google)
  • Name
  • User identifier

App data

  • Groups and their members
  • Transaction and expense history
  • Receipt photos and avatars (if you upload them)
  • App settings

Technical data

  • Device information (model, operating system version)
  • App interaction data (analytics events such as sign-up, group created, transaction created)
  • Crash and error reports

Services we use

Firebase (Google)

  • Firebase Authentication — user authentication (email, name)
  • Cloud Firestore — data storage and sync across devices
  • Firebase Analytics — app usage analysis
  • Firebase Crashlytics — app stability monitoring
  • Firebase Storage — image storage (avatars, receipt photos)

Google Cloud / Vertex AI

The receipt scanning feature (Smart Scan) uses Vertex AI (Gemini) by Google Cloud. When you use this feature, the receipt photo is temporarily sent to Google Cloud for text recognition and data extraction. Photos are not used to train models.

Data security

All data is transmitted over a secure connection (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google servers under their security standards. Learn more: Google Privacy Policy.

Sharing with third parties

Data is processed exclusively by Google services (Firebase, Google Cloud) under their privacy policies. We do not share data with any other third parties.

Data retention and deletion

Data is kept until you delete your account. When an account is deleted, its data is removed within 30 days.

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email toed_amoebas5t@icloud.com from the address linked to your account. Requests are processed within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

Any changes to this privacy policy will be published on this page with an updated date.
